Wrong-way crashes are often head-on collisions that are more likely to produce serious injuries and fatalities. Typically, offenders are confused, distracted, or intoxicated drivers who tend to keep their eyes on the road directly in front of them, often not seeing roadside warning signals and signs. The red LED lights of our LaneLight in-road LEDs flash repeatedly, catching the attention of wrong-way offenders.
Driving the wrong way in one-way traffic or on the wrong side of the road factored into over 3 percent of all fatal crashes in the US.
With most wrong-way accidents occurring at night, it is important to ensure that warning systems are highly visible at any hour. Our in-road LED systems are daytime visible up to 3000 feet, with the driver-focused light being 62% effective in reducing wrong-way drivers on ramps where the systems are placed.
Creating a complete wrong-way avoidance system by integrating both in-road LED lights with LED enhanced signs allows for an even safer equipment configuration. Microchips within our wrong-way products connect with your existing systems to seamlessly integrate with peripheral traffic safety networks. Our team is equipped with over 15 years of experience in creating custom LED safety system solutions, so be sure to reach out if you have any questions about how you can maximize the safety of your roadways with a LaneLight system.
Extensively used by LA Metro, our LaneLight LED enhanced stop bar systems mitigate the conflicts associated with busy commuter rail and freight rail grade crossings. Red in-road LEDs are activated in sync with existing signal control systems, creating a barrier of LED light directly in the drivers line of sight.
Stop bar LED systems can be used in other applications such as bike lanes, security and military gates, troublesome or hazardous intersections and anywhere that is prone to the negative effects of distracted driving induced tunnel vision.
LaneLight in-road LEDs are also available in a multi-coloured unit to work in a situation where a warning may be followed by a stop alert, such as a grade rail intersection. The change in colour can be triggered by many different means, whether it’s a pedestrian button activation, scheduled activation through LaneLight Connect, or triggered via existing systems.
Our commitment to quality allows LaneLight warning systems to be backed by a full 5-year warranty (normal wear and tear included) and have a projected service life of up to 15 years, depending on operational conditions. Our 5-year warranty includes installations in snowfall regions where LaneLight in-road systems are installed just below grade so they never come into contact with snow-plow blades.
